About QP
Our Mission
Our Lady Queen of Peace School fosters a love for Christ and our Catholic community of lifelong learners. Grounded in faith and strengthened by community, we encourage students, teachers, pastoral staff, and parents to deepen their relationship with God and grow in respect for the dignity, gifts, and differences of every person. We empower students to develop confidence as they pursue their God-given potential through spiritual formation, academic rigor, leadership, and service.
Vision
- Follow the teachings of Jesus: pray together, serve others, speak kindly, forgive, seek the good, and build peace.
- Nurture a caring school climate where every child is encouraged to reach their fullest capabilities.
- Inspire all people to believe in themselves and strive to do their best in life.
- Recognize and honor the likeness of God in one another.
- Build strong, positive relationships through effective communication and collaboration.
Educational Philosophy
We, the faculty of Our Lady Queen of Peace School, believe:
- Children are a gift from God. Entrusted to us for a time, they are intrinsically good, eager to learn, and uniquely gifted.
- Every child deserves love, acceptance, understanding, and guidance. With this support, they can discover and develop their God-given talents, becoming Christ-like and responsible members of the world community.
School is an extension of the home. It should provide positive experiences that motivate each child to achieve his or her full potential within an environment of faith, security, academic excitement, and social growth.
We are a community of faith. At Queen of Peace, members model and teach the message of Jesus, inspiring one another to live with joy, serve with humility, and grow together in discipleship.
About Queen of Peace School
Our Lady Queen of Peace School, located on Madison’s near west side, was founded in 1949 as part of the newly established Queen of Peace Parish. The parish broke ground in 1948 under the leadership of Father Francis McDonnell, and the cornerstone was laid that December. When the school opened its doors in the fall of 1949, it was staffed by the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa, who played a central role in shaping its early faith-based identity and academic program. Over the decades, the school has grown from its original classrooms into a vibrant K4–8 Catholic community, serving generations of families while maintaining a strong commitment to academic excellence, spiritual development, and service. Today, as part of one of the largest parishes in the Diocese of Madison, Queen of Peace School continues to provide students with a foundation rooted in faith, family, and community.
