School & Family

Parents who are involved in their child’s education raise successful, well-rounded young adults who are more likely to go on to higher education. We encourage all parents to take an active role in QP School through volunteerism! The parent-teacher organization works as part of the parish school community to provide enrichment opportunities to students above and beyond the curriculum provided by school tuition and to provide parents' assistance to the principal, faculty, and staff in carrying out school activities.

Every parent at QP School is a member of the S&F Association, which has a 17-member board. The board, comprised of parents, teachers, and administrators, oversees all S&F events, activities, fundraising and volunteering. Parent involvement and participation in S&F events is necessary to maintain and expand academic and extracurricular opportunities. Volunteer with S&F; what better way to meet other families and have fun?

The S&F board meets monthly during the school year, usually on the second Thursday of the month, at 6:30 p.m. beginning in mid to late August. Board meetings are open to all parents, faculty, and staff.

This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad

Enrichment activities

Artist in Residence
This program brings professional artists and musicians into Queen of Peace classrooms to work directly with students and enhance their experience and understanding of the arts. This program creates hands-on opportunities for students of all grade levels to interact with local and nationally renowned professionals. For additional information or to volunteer, contact the committee chair.

Teacher & Staff Appreciation
This is an ongoing effort throughout the school year, and especially during staff appreciation week, to recognize faculty and staff. We may ask volunteers to serve breakfast, bake treats, plan a luncheon, or assist with other recognition activities. For additional information or to volunteer, contact the committee chair.

Class Coordinators
Homeroom parents are an integral part of making each school year special and fun for the students by helping teachers coordinate and/or carry out certain activities. These occasions include, but are not limited to, class parties, field trips, and special classroom events. It has been customary to have two homeroom parents for each classroom. Homeroom parents also purchase and coordinate the presentation of class gifts for the homeroom teacher’s birthday, Christmas, and Staff Appreciation Week in March. We ask each classroom family to contribute $10 per homeroom, which is billed through FACTS at the start of the school year. This amount is then passed along to homeroom parents, so they can budget for parties, teacher gifts, and other events throughout the year. There is an informational meeting for incoming homeroom parents in September. We review roles and responsibilities, answer questions, and offer tips to help make the assignment easy and fun!

RAISE RIGHT

Raise Right purchases generate revenue for the school and parish. Raise Right fundraising gift cards are the same gift cards you would normally purchase from a retailer in your local area, and they work the same way. Our parishioners and school families purchase Scrip for full face value and receive full face value at time of use. Rebates are offered by the merchants vary, but range from 2% to 17%. A few are even higher!

This year we are highlighting the RAISE RIGHT app. The app allows you to purchase a gift card right on your phone, and have the store scan the bar code at checkout. No cards, no fuss, and an easy way to support QP!
